Our Purpose
Mount Zion Weekday Preschool and Kindergarten is one of the ongoing educational ministries of Mount Zion Baptist Church. The Bible says "teach a child to choose the right path, and when he is older, he will remain upon it." Proverbs 22:6
Our program is designed to help your child develop intellectually, emotionally, physically, socially, and spiritually. We will strive to provide a stimulating environment in which your child can have a happy and meaningful preschool experience in a distinctively Christian atmosphere.
Our Curriculum
Our curriculum offers fun, "learn as you play" activities and experiences that focus on skills and abilities that are developing naturally at each age level. We use "Wee Learn" and "Zoo Phonics" for our core curriculum, and they are enhanced by our Curriculum Coordinator, continuing education classes provided for our teachers and additional early childhood resources. Bible stories, verses and principles are included in our curriculum as well as Chapel times each month. We also have a 3 day P.E. class for children in four year old classes.
Our Faculty
Our teachers are Christians who are well trained and experienced in early childhood education. We are members of several preschool associations and our teachers are required to attend continuing education classes during the year at recognized institutions, under qualified instructors.
Our Facilities
All of our classrooms have the needed furnishings and recommended space suitable for each age level. Restroom facilities are available in each classroom. We have a playground with fun, colorful play structures that are age and developmentally appropriate for preschoolers. Our Christian Life Center is available for special activities as well as playtime on rainy/cold days.
Our Daily Routine
Our day is structured and organized with a schedule that includes learning centers, small group and individual classroom experiences, circle time, indoor/outdoor activities and lunch time.
Hours/School Calendar
Our hours are 9:30am to 1:30pm. The 2023 - 2024 School year will begin on August 28, 2023 and ends on May 17, 2024. Our school year will correspond to the Gwinnett County School calendar observing the same holidays and school closings for inclement weather as well as being closed for Good Friday.

**The transition class is for children who are eligible for kindergarten (5 by 9/1) and have completed the four year old class but may need an extra year to mature and prepare for a successful year in kindergarten. It is also for children who have completed the three year old class at Mount Zion, have a teacher recommendation and are ready for more of a challenge.
REGISTRATION FEE/PROCEDURE
The Registration fee for 1 and 2 year old classes is equal to one month's tuition plus a $20 activity fee, is not part of the tuition and is non-refundable. The registration fee for 3 year old classes, 4 year old classes and the transition class is equal to one month's tuition plus a $40 activity fee. The activity fee covers special events throughout the year. The Activity fee is part of the registration fee. The Registration fee is Non-Refundable and is not part of the tuition. An application for Registration must be completed and returned to the Weekday Preschool Office with the Registration fee. Classes will begin on Monday, August 28, 2023 and end on Friday May 17, 2024. Mount Zion Weekday Preschool Registration Opens to Church Families on January 8, 2023. Registration opens to current preschool families and Alumni families on January 10, 2023. Registration opens to the community on January 20, 2023.
*Children must be one, two, three, or four years old by September 1st for preschool classes and 5 years old by September 1st for kindergarten classes.
*Children in three and four year old classes must be potty trained.
*One year olds must be walking on their own, and able to feed themselves.
Tuition is due by the 10th of each month - August through April.
